What to Do if You Have Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19

If you are sick and have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected to have the illness, follow the steps below to help prevent the disease from spreading to others in your home and community.
• Stay home except to get medical care.
• Separate yourself from other people and animals in your home.
• Call ahead before visiting your doctor. If you have a medical appointment and tell them that you have or may have COVID-19. Wear a face mask to the appointment. At this point, Vashon Natural Medicine and Neighborcare have testing kits.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze; throw used tissues in a lined trash can and immediately wash your hands.
• If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you should remain under home isolation precautions for 7 days OR until 72 hours after a fever is gone and symptoms get better, whichever is longer.
• If you have a medical emergency and need to call 911, notify the dispatch personnel that you have, or may have, COVID-19. If possible, put on a facemask before emergency medical services arrive.
• For more information on this topic, see the Washington State Department of Health's website or speak to your health care provider.
This series of Voice of Vashon public service announcements on COVID-19 prevention has been compiled from county, state and federal resources as well as other experts.

Alerts are broadcast on 1650AM, KVSH 101.9FM, VoV App, VashonBePrepared and Voice of Vashon websites and VoV Facebook page.
