Smoke detectors are an amazing device. Most smoke detectors cost under $10.00 and will provide your family with an early warning to a fire. Across the nation 90% of fire related deaths, occur in homes. There is an increase in reports from communities across the nation of lives being saved, due to the proper installation of smoke detectors.

These reports showing the effectiveness of an early warning of a fire can have a dramatic impact on reducing the approximate 6,600 fire deaths that occur annually. If all homes in the United States, had properly installed smoke detectors, we could see a substantial decrease in residential fire deaths.

Vashon Island Fire and Rescue has a Smoke Detector Inspection Program in place. Stop by the Business Office and make arrangements for an inspection.
