Gayle Sommers
Postion Two, term up in 2011
Gayle Sommers has lived on Vashon Island since 1990,
and has served on the boards of Vashon Island School
District #402 and the Vashon-Maury Island Community
Council.
Gayle has a master’s degree in Public
Administration from the University of Washington, and
holds the amateur radio license KG7ZZZ.

Jan Nielsen
Position Three, term up in 2009
Jan Nielsen attended The University of Washington. He has had three careers one as a boat builder, a marketing consultant, print broker, and currently works for Marenakos Rock Center in marketing and sales of masonry, flagstone and landscaping stones.
Jan has been married for 34 years to wife Abbie, who is the director of the Senior Center, and has raised. two sons. Both sons are career firefighters. Tyler is married and works here at Vashon Island Fire and Rescue and their other son Jan Martin is married, currently working in Durham North Carolina as a firefighter after attending Duke University.
