Burn Ban Status - "CLOSED"
KC Fire Marshal calls for a Phase I Burn Ban to take effect July 15th and will run through Sept 30th. This burn ban applies throughout King County in both the incorporated and unincorporated areas
Phase II Burn Ban - No burning allowed in Any wood-burning fireplaces, wood stoves or fireplace inserts (certified or unceretified) or pellet stoves, unless this is your only adequate source of heat (such as their furnance or electric baseboard heaters) for a few days until air quality improves, the public health risk diminishes and the ban is cancelled.
Even if your fireplace, pellet stove or wood stove is your only adequate souce of heat, no visable smoke is allowed.
No outdoor fires are allowed, This included recreational fires such as bonfires , campfires and the use of fire pits and chimineas.
Burn ban violations are subject to a $1,000 penalty.
It is OK to use natural gas and propane stoves or inserts during a Stage 2 burn ban.
Phase I Burn Ban - allows only recreational campfires in approved fire pits. King, Kitsap, Mason and Pierce Counties are restricitng the size and location of recreational campfires. Campfires are allowed if located on private land with the landowner's permission and if built in an approved manner. These fires must be
- built in a metal or concrete fire pit
- grow no larger than three feet across
- located in a clear spot free from vegetation; 10' horizontal and 20' of vertical clearance
- attended at all times by an alert individual with immediate access to a shovel and five gallons of warer or a charged water hose.

During a burn ban - No burning is allowed in fireplaces or uncertified wood stoves, unless this is your only adequate source of heat, and all outdoor burning is prohibited, even in areas where outdoor burning is not permanently banned.
Open Status - Burn only natural vegetation, No treated or untreated lumber garbage, plastic, dead animals, petroleum products, paint, etc., or any substance that emits dense smoke or obnoxious odors.
Burn barrels are prohibited in Washington state.
