As we look to the future in striving to make your fire district a leaner, more efficient and cost-effective agency and improve customer service, we have changed the way we issue burn permits. The new permit does not expire, and you can use the one that will be mailed within the next few weeks, or come here to our website to print one off. Simply fill in your name and property address, read the rules and sign. If you don't have a computer and you lose the one that will be mailed, you can call us at 206.463.2405 and we will mail one to you.

Then when you get ready to burn, either call the burn line or go online to the websites on the burn permit and determine whether or not there is a burn ban. If there is no burn ban, then simply follow the rules! Vashon Island Fire and Rescue issued almost 900 burn permits last year so this will greatly reduce staff time and eliminate the need for almost 500 annual trips from your house to the fire station.
